What a champion is 28-year-old James Turner, world record setter and Paralympic gold medal winner (“Games fever strikes our world beater”, DT, 5/9). Ranked T36, implying some asymmetry to his co-ordinated limb movements, there was certainly a unique gallop to the finish line as James thundered into the record books, finishing the 400 metres in 51.54 seconds. Such brilliant showcasing of his skill must prove that people with variable disabilities are not defined by their physical limitations. Those of us trying to catch James in this 400-metre dash would not see his limitations at all. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 6Sept2024
