Great to see the Telegraph in full throttle promoting the amazing Sydney Racing Carnival, climaxing with the Everest on October 15. (A chef and a horse walk into a restaurant, 31/8). Wild horses couldn’t drag me away. This story is surely begging for humorous replies. While not looking a gift-horse in the mouth, wary “Aussie”, the Clerk of the Course horse, was looking a little bewildered as to which course he was on, as the smell of simmering sirloins wafted from Woolloomooloo Wharf restaurants. Recognising the fate of a bull in a China shop might augur better than one being wheeled into the China Doll restaurant, Aussie must be hoping that the pop-up hospitality at Randwick Racecourse during the carnival has clients preferring to eat like a horse, rather than the horse itself. Perhaps I should hold my horses and stop putting ideas in chef Frank Shek’s head as he creates his own equine-inspired menu for the big race. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta. 1Sept2022.
Commentary : Promoters had Aussie onsite at Woolloomooloo Wharf promoting the Everest, looking a little anxious.
