Everyone loves a story of redemption, where a once besmirched citizen performs public penance and achieves a well-earned forgiveness in the eyes of the fair minded. Whether it be a poorly behaved footy player or Kevin Rudd kicking Trump when he was down, there is something endearing about reconciliation, which emboldens and sanctifies the higher human spirit. (“Rudd in make up bid with Trump”, Saturday Telegraph, 18/1). Himself forgiven for failures of the past, US President Donald Trump exemplifies excellence by not holding grudges against those blinded by the baying cacophony of his haters. Many former opponents have reconciled on Mr Trump’s Florida golf course, apparently now including Mr Rudd. The whole world can be impacted when love and forgiveness replace the spite of revenge and indignation. Kevin Rudd should be forgiven and remain as ambassador while Anthony Albanese is PM.
