It’s a coincidence that the last time events in Nottingham made history with feuding royal brothers was in the time of Robin Hood when the petulant Prince John undermined his brother King Richard. Congratulations to the Sunday Telegraph for giving voice to the damning case against the Sussexes and their interminable media squad (“Bogus royals are back”, ST, 18/10). Disregarding the Sandringham Agreement, Harry and Meghan have forcibly returned to the UK, planning events to coincide with the Prince of Wales or the King’s timetable to steal the limelight. Harry’s visit to a Birmingham school caused a situation, resulting in a student swearing at him. His appearance on a Joe Marley podcast in July was certainly crass in language and demonstrated minimal insight. In Nottingham, the press outnumbered the rented crowd and the mood of those attending matched the dreary weather. As the King opened the Welsh parliament, the “faker-than-fake” Sussexes contrived their grand Nottingham tour, becoming the bigger headline because of their pure gall. Perhaps they are hoping for some Robin Hood economics while there. Taking from the rich and giving to the poor” might sound attractive to the recently impoverished.
