Remarkably, bonds formed with wonderful on-screen TV personalities in our youth fill a space in our hearts which is truly lifelong, never to be displaced by those who follow in the shadows of fleeting appeal. In this context, those of us watching the exciting 1970s Australian TV shows like Division 4 and Cop Shop will have the name and youthful face of actor Terrence Donovan forever impressed on our memories (“Tributes to veteran Aussie actor”, DT, 20/7). News of his parting at the age of 90 will be heartbreaking for many as fond recollections surface, giving voice to family cheers as crooks got caught and life seemed remarkably happier. RIP to the man and his many alter egos. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 21July2026
