While dog owners are said to resemble their mutts, it is perhaps surprising that the World’s Ugliest Dog Competition has so many entrants. (Mutt-ugly pooch now top dog, 27/6). Proving that puppy love is truly blind, man’s best friend could perhaps teach the teenagers of the world that our true nature is more than skin deep (Why social media is a real monster, 26/6). Our judgments on the permanency of qualities like trust, honesty, integrity and faithfulness are far wiser than the fleeting value of surface-thin beauty and cosmetic-assisted appeal. With so many blinded by the superficial, perhaps the Mr Happy Faces of the world are a testament to their amazing owners like Jeneda Benally who found a canine prince at the warty frog pool.
