With Julian Assange about to be extradited to the USA, it is an interesting coincidence that top secret military files about potential war zones are suddenly floating around the internet like lost nuclear submarines. Endangering strategy and compromising the current status of Pentagon intelligence, the airing of such data, closely following the Chinese spy balloon over the USA’s nuclear silos and the war games around Taiwan, should be extremely alarming. The criticism of Julian Assange might be mitigated on the basis of the source of his information, signals analysts Chelsea Manning being pardoned. While he will have an excellent alibi this time, one must hope that the heinous culprits violating the trust of national security today will receive a more deserved denigration and punishment.
