No one could possibly underestimate the value of Amanda Rose and Maria Kovacic in setting up Western Sydney Women, which is an inspirational group committed to advocacy for women in the workforce. (I’m the ‘real Eel’ of Parra, 12/5). At a time when domestic violence and stories of workforce abuse against women has filled the columns of newspapers in tune with meaningful issues, the value of this locally focused organisation is profound. While Ms Kovacic’s candidature will give some publicity to her current role in the organisation, Canberra success would leave a gaping deficit in the lives of the young women she is currently assisting.
