With the Liberal NSW state executive canning pre-selections and rusticating sitting councillors in Western Sydney, it should be no surprise to see the Labor Party acting similarly. (Branches want to turn over new leaf for pre-selections, 9/11). I pay warm tribute to Julie Owens’ 16-year contribution to federal parliament representing Parramatta. But her advocacy now for popular branch preselection of her replacement will ring hollow for those familiar with the marvellous concert pianist, who was parachuted into the electorate in 2004 to oust Ross Cameron. In fairness, the Labor state executive chose very wisely when selecting her for Parramatta. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta  10Nov2021.
