News that Barry O’Farrell has been appointed as High Commissioner to India should be welcomed by all sides of politics. (Look, it’s Bombay Barry, 19/2). After years in opposition as the NSW Liberal Party leader, his victory in 2011 was well earned. As an avid critic of corruption at all levels, a very rare integrity in his make-up saw him resign when an imputation arose about his motivation when accepting a bottle of Grange wine. Few politicians share such decency and this state parliament lost a champion with his departure. Hopefully, his example has inspired the current crop of MPs.
