Unmet expectations, which may be assumed or implicit in our job descriptions, can surely have disastrous consequences when put under the microscope. Police Commissioner Karen Webb should be strongly praised for keeping out of the way of her officers and not breathing down their necks. (“Greater role for police boss”, 27/2). Her pivotal role is to create and sustain a professional environment to optimise the climate under which our outstanding policemen and women operate. As the face of the force, she should be seen as a charismatic leader, who inspires our youth to seek a career as champions in the ranks of those advocating for the moral victory of good over evil.
