With 26,000 Australians stranded overseas due to reduced commercial flights and our limited airport quotas, unreasonable blame is being attributed (Please bring us back home, 17/9). While Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave advice early, the innate Aussie mentality is perhaps to disbelieve politicians crying “wolf”. Victorian protesters against their lockdown clearly have trust issues with their hard-working yet unlucky Premier. I wonder how many of these same Melbourne protesters would happily swap places with those in COVID exile overseas. It is unfair to be critical of our Aussie families overseas whose individual circumstances may have clouded their decision-making at the onset of this plague. In such uncharted waters, let’s be kinder. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 18Sep2020.
