Carl Scully correctly argues that speed cameras are located in road death traps. (“Speed trap trick”, 5/11). In other words, from previous experience, all signage is telling us that “this roadway is dangerous”. Signs must not be removed. Additional road rule compliance is achieved by mobile cameras and overt police car presence. Instead of reducing signage, our government could erect multiple new speed camera signs and rotate the cameras between sites. Warning signs will slow traffic even in the absence of cameras.
