We surely feel collective sympathy for young police arriving at crime scenes of unspeakable gore, only to be traumatised forever by human savagery expressed in godless violence for seemingly incomprehensible motivation. Today, our hearts surely ache for Muslim undertaker Ahmad Hraichie, experiencing 30 years seeing first hand what newspaper headlines cannot capture and innocent humans ought never endure. (There’s no rule now, it is open season, 18/6). Ahmad feels the pain of the victim’s family, hearing the advocacy for a loved one who’s good can only outweigh error in a father’s emotional last litany. As perpetrators of murderous intent flee overseas, it is concerning that our Attorney General Michelle Rowland is failing to issue arrest warrants in the form of International Red Notices, a means of securing extradition. With safeguards like optional cooperation, exclusion of racial, religious or political “crimes” and the offence needing to be criminal in the refuge country, the Albanese Government is completely wrong to not be seeking to repatriate and prosecute in the name of justice for the sadly demised in Ahmad Hraichie’s funeral home.
