Genuine popularity in politics certainly makes one a bigger target, as Pauline Hanson is finding as she hunkers down for a storm of cowardly cyber abuse and criticism ignited by a polarisation in Australian politics. We appear set for an imminent collapse of major parties with their bankrupted overlapping policies denying voters any real choices (“Albanese’s just plane scared of One Nation”, DT, 22/6). Fortunately, keyboard warriors are all bluff and bluster in the cowardly safety of their VPN anonymity. The real threats to Pauline Hanson’s success are not the major parties, the keyboard kooks nor her friendship with millionaires. Poor scrutinising of new One Nation candidates is the iceberg for her Titanic journey. She must stop welcoming the failed has-beens from the major parties. She must avoid those perennially angry nobodies jumping on every bandwagon. Her expectations of political bedfellows must behove an exponentially higher standard than what was tolerated in the past. The real strategies for One Nation lie in formulating a cohesive team united in patriotism, coalescing sound policy, capable of resisting toxic international lobby groups, committed to hearing the commonsense in the electorate and dismantling a dishonest media elite who have pandered to leftist powerbrokers for too long.
