Your correspondents are right to argue that it’s a bit rich to expect Israel to show restraint after the murder of at least 700 citizens and the maiming of another 2000. (Forget restraint and destroy terrorists, Letters, 10/10). The black soul of Hamas is again exposed to the world with its hands bloodied after a weekend of reprehensible cowardice and evil. It is definite that the days ahead will not be about the negotiation advocated by Penny Wong, but a fierce military eruption of the wrath and resolve of a nation wronged. Sydney Imam Ibrahim Dadoun is right to step back from initially inflammatory comments while now condemning mass murder. (Attacks on Israel a day of ‘pride’, 10/10). With a universal respect for human life in Australian society and a fair justice system to correct all wrongs, diverse cultures from all over the world live here in peace. Palestinians protesting in our streets have every right to express themselves, but if they now celebrate the murder of innocents, they ought not seek our sympathy when the tide of battle shifts, as it inevitably will.
