I am always dismayed when hearing of doomsayers with their large caches of guns and weaponry, selfishly aimed at sustaining them in a post-apocalyptic world. (Doomsday prepper was a gun runner for syndicate, ST 22/12). At times of great adversity, the Australian spirit of self-sacrifice and volunteerism will always rise above the reclusive, paranoid “walking dead” mentality of these people. Give me a post-cataclysmic Australia where the nature and ethos of our firefighters reigns supreme and our recovery will be assured. I would not want to inherit a Mad Max world.
