Although Xmas is the season for giving, the New Testament advises us to give to the poor anonymously, ensuring we get God’s reward in the next life rather than man’s approbation now. Dick Smith is wrong to publicly embarrass Harry Triguboff on every level, especially on theological grounds. (That’s a bit rich, Dick,19/12). It can be difficult, however, to donate to charity anonymously. With phone, email and credit card databases, I have found that a donation to my favourite charity resulted in a spate of new appeals after my details were sold onto the next charity.
