The NRL has invoked “force majeure” to contractually protect itself, claiming that the COVID-19 pandemic is an act of God. (NRL claims Act of God wrecked the season, 11/4). It seems a fair strategy to save money. In contrast, the Australian Rugby Union wasted a fortune in the last year claiming that the word of God should not be quoted when it comes to football. Imagine the furore if Israel Folau said COVID-19 was God’s work. Perhaps he should never have left the better game of rugby league. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 13Apr2020
