Pork-barrelling and lobbying by MPs has been topical recently with Bridget McKenzie and now MP for East Hills Wendy Lindsay (Mum MP busted, 7/2). I prefer that MPs should be making decisions about public spending. It is better than faceless, un-sackable bureaucrats. If MPs get it wrong, they are forced to resign. McKenzie’s departure proves the system works. Wendy Lindsay is right to advocate for every school in her electorate like her own children go there. The fear of bias is neutering our MPs. I want my MP to be the most pushy, selfish, determined loud mouth in the parliament. The actual bus diversion to Menai High School looks more than appropriate. Great work Wendy.
