With the arrival on Australian shores of colourfully named and attired American traveller River Sol Dorado Salvatore Chunga, seeking a new life away from the once safe pillars of the Western world (that the USA formerly embodied), we must surely congratulate ourselves on being recognised as the best country in the world. (I want to stay, says gun girl, 19/5). Her visit is perhaps proving more interesting than another planned but cancelled, where the US President Joe Biden thought less of us than she does. Of course, the first rule for integrating into our Aussie lifestyle is to leave all the festering bias, grudges and gun-carrying entitlement where you came from and find a fresh start here. Her stated distrust of police and alleged possession of a golden gun suggest that Ms Chunga may have a way to go before fitting in. Immigration officials are to be applauded in enforcing standards which protect our borders, but more importantly, extolling our values which guide our peaceful, free lifestyle.
