With 115 recorded cases of COVID-19 and the first death in the United Kingdom, I commend Prince Charles for cancelling his Prince’s Trust Group Dinner. (Chicken Chuck’s gaffe, 6/3). Doing otherwise would confuse critical messaging by those managing this crisis. Those who feel unwell or returning from Italy are asked to self-isolate. Restrictive measures now will pay dividends in the long term. The prince and his team are right to show sympathy with the British people by avoiding extravagant self-indulgences, which may be risky while others suffer. While our amazing fire chief Shane Fitzsimmons is painted as being a victim of being snubbed, nothing could be further from the truth. Without him being uninvited, this non-event would not have been newsworthy. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 7Mar2020.
