Getting a rowing champion to coach a cricket team is a wonderful idea if you are to reduce the team size and lengthen the bats. (“Starc’s rowing pains over slow down edict,” 29/10). As an impartial fan of summer cricket, the idea of cricket having ‘intensity’ is novel. That the slow-motion pace is to be further reduced to 20 per cent by Olympian Drew Ginn must be a ruse to encourage the cricket throngs to give up their summer entertainment.
