One might wonder what former Channel 9 owner Kerry Packer would make of the current malaise at his beloved network (“Toxic TV,” DT 18/10). Who could forget his famous phone call to management to cancel Doug Mulray while live on air? Ever the watchman over the beneficence of his organisation, those corrupting the Channel 9 workplace of today would not last long in Packer’s domain. Perhaps the current staff need genuine fear for their professional futures should they trespass against the sensible ethical standards in the workplace. Rather than a complicated, unread code of conduct, a new owner with a short fuse and a moral compass would quickly drain this decrepit cesspit on our airways. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 19Oct2024
