The unexpected benefits of working from home during Covid have seen a reluctance to return to the work-place. (Use it, don’t lose it, 28/2). Little doubt, those in the “hands on” professions like nursing had no such options. The loss of office politics, gossip corners and secret little chats over a cappuccino may indeed damage the valuable contribution human dynamics has on business productivity. The “best of both worlds” solution is to have compulsory attendance in the office two days per week. The spacing of those days across the week will see a reduction in pressure on our roads and public transport.
