The management of Covid in NSW has been cleverly strategic and deserves praise. Lives have been saved and the media has sensibly educated a good-hearted public, which through compliance has reaped the benefits. Rapidly introducing focused, scientific tools that actually work and save lives was applauded. QR codes initially were better than the CovidSafe app, but are now impossible to follow up and are proven to be outdated in the urgent management of this pandemic (Calls to can the QR scan, 16/2). Wasting the resources of retail stores, telephone companies and health co-ordinators by continuing with this QR system should be condemned. Australians are fair dinkum and only wish to observe rules which work. Companies should be allowed to shelve their QR code requirements, with the understanding that a new Covid variant might require its reintroduction at some stage.
