Whether a fatigued football player during a gruelling season or a journalist coming head-on with writer’s block, performance varies and should be anticipated. (I wish I could take it all back,29/8). We should not be too critical of those around us even without insight into their troubles. Inspirational footballer Latrell Mitchell gives acceptance and a profound sense of purpose to a generation of athletic, aspiring Indigenous youth. But he cannot always play perfect footy. Forgiven by fans for sometimes upsetting the Rabbitohs winning scoreboard, Mitchell might concede that perhaps South’s royalty Rodney Churchill is deserving of similar forgiveness for his recent rant, fuelled by the bitterness of others rather than himself.
