Under no circumstances  should Trent Robinson be fined for his commentary about Latrell Mitchell’s tackle on Roosters player Joey Manu. (Latrell Mitchell accepts 6 game suspension, online 29/8). To do so would argue that bad player behaviour should not be widely condemned. Criticism of game officials should be strictly focused, but when measurable outcomes are so severe, the Robinson comments cannot be reasonably challenged nor punished. His outrage should not be muffled. It is worth noting that while Friday’s Telegraph brilliantly hailed the crusade of Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker to encourage Indigenous Covid-19 vaccination programs, hospitalising Manu has exposed him to the risk of a hospital-acquired Covid-19 infection.
