After a period of terrible decisions and political maladministration, it is a well worn metaphor to equate a government’s dispatch to “going over a cliff”. However, our PM is surely tempting fate by pitching his tent next to one six months before the next election having recently bought a clifftop Copacabana property (“Albo buys beach house of cards, DT, 16/10). While his Voice referendum was poorly managed and proved extremely divisive, it seems the PM is still seeking to divide and rule, highlighting again the massive economic divide between those owning or not owning a home. This has been made obnoxiously evident with his badly timed purchase. The voters might indeed feel a level of acrimony that politicians retire into such wealthy havens without taking any responsibility for their actions which encouraged mass immigration when there was already a housing shortage.
