Author Howard Rheingold was prophetic when observing that: “We are moving rapidly into a world in which the spying machinery is built into every object we encounter.” The boldness of Facebook, You-Tube, Twitter and Google in undertaking citizen tracking and even censoring a sitting US president is well known. Former NSA analysts Edward Snowden claimed the US government was also spying on its citizens. The introduction of the Facebook Ray-Ban sunglasses with secret cameras encourages people to spy on each other and is perhaps their next logical step (Call to Ray-Ban camera glasses, 14/9). While it might be impolite to punch someone wearing glasses, I expect in these circumstances it might become more common. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 15Sep2021.
