Former darling of the wealthy, the virtue-signalling, the woke and climate alarmists, Elon Musk has quickly lost the sweet aroma of popular acclaim after bidding to buy Twitter. (Musk makes his move – Tim Blair, Opinion, 18/4). Besmirched by the indignant left, who win arguments against opponents when they can silence them, Musk’s seemingly heretical idea of restoring free speech is too much for this choir of spite. Truth is absolute reality, not opinion. Sometimes reality comes with harshness and feelings can get hurt. The left remains obsessed with a feel-good world of kumbaya and anything threatening that is hate speech. But, in Musk’s possible new free speech Twitter world, there should be no anonymity or cowardice in public debate. We should be proudly responsible for our comments.
