Former Bankstown Labor MP and now One Nation’s MLC Tania Mihailuk echoed a sage warning before the last state election that the Minns team were simply not ready for government. (Labor’s weighed down by reviews, 9/6). Ignored and berated, the prophecies of the member have surely now come true with the NSW minority government still frozen in a mind-boggling torrent of inquiries, reviews and task forces. While feel-good hype and gusto might well have satisfied the hopeful throngs on election day, under-promising and over-delivering is surely the recipe for political longevity. With average voters aware of clear and present dangers in education, transport and health that must be immediately curtailed, the repetitive blithering response of this government must have us all rue the day we ignored Mihailuk. While Shakespeare’s Macbeth might not have been always exemplary in methods of public administration, the people of NSW might agree with his ethos that “what ’tis done ’tis best done quickly”.
