Former guts and glory MP Daryl Maguire was derisively referred to as “undertaking a relentless pursuit of his own agenda” by former premier Mike Baird. The achievement of material results for electorates should be a top priority for any elected member – as highlighted by Wagga Wagga resident Bryan Pomeroy (Letters, 21/10). Still denounced for his tilt against the greyhound racing industry, high pronouncements from Mr Baird are certainly not sacrosanct. Power should lie with elected local members, provided the benefit is communal and not purely for self-enrichment. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 22Oct2021.
