No doubt Mark Latham, MLC, ex-MHR, ex-Labor Opposition Leader, ex-mayor of Liverpool, ex-One Nation figurehead and now ex-partner to AVO-seeking Nathalie Matthews, has had a tumultuous political and personal career. In a world where it is so easy to connect with each other, we perhaps shouldn’t be judged too severely when our impulsive selves make judgments or commentary. While Mark Latham is a public figure and our expectations of him are high, I guess those who put him on a pedestal in the first place are the only ones disappointed. To be fair, the monotony of the Legislative Council might indeed drive many of us to the distraction of social media (“Latham’s big sexting test”. “, 17/7). On a scale of outrageous behaviour, I would not be too critical of the MP whose personal life is of absolutely no interest to me and whose political fortunes are surely on a slow, six-year countdown to oblivion.
