WikiLeaks was for a long time an ardent advocate for truth and stood up to the forces of corruption, challenging even Hillary Clinton when her handling of top-secret emails became suspect. Under the leadership of Julian Assange, its reputation was impeccable. Persecuted by those he exposed, he became a hostage of circumstance in Ecuador’s London embassy and later in the British prison system as he avoided those intent on punishing him for offending the Clinton dynasty. As one who advocated for his release, I am certainly appalled to see him in the protest on the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sunday. (“Keep protesting, you pay, DT, 5/8). Is this the worst case of industrial scale hypocrisy or is he suffering from his own Stockholm syndrome? Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 6August2025
