There is no doubt that voters are influenced by both policy and personality, love party stability, value humility above arrogance and are loathe to forgive treachery (“Will Mark be rolled in a Xmas takeover?” DT, 20/11). That is surely an obstacle course for a dysfunctional NSW Liberal Party hoping to give itself a new leader for Xmas. Before breaking out the canapes and parfait, it’s apparent the Boxing Day will come early this year for the Libs. This news might be music to the ears of those disenchanted by the hapless Mark Speakman, yet in reality the carol “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” would not fill a telephone box to rescue him from his fate. The policy on net zero that opposes the federal Liberal stance is deplorable and must change with new leadership. Not doing so will make the unsettling transition battle a futile waste of time and the real Christmas turkeys will be exposed. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 21Nov2025
