Peta Credlin deserves a medal for her brilliant analysis of the recently broadcast ABC purgative Nemesis (“It’s time to reclaim the Libs for true blue believers’, ST, 18/2). I only managed to watch the first episode before recoiling in rage at the mind-boggling absence of dignity among the plotters, naive to reality and bereft of insight into their actions 10 years later. Having worked extremely hard to support Liberal Martin Zaiter in Parramatta and later former police superintendent Ray King in McMahon, I conclude that Credlin is right to highlight the anger felt by those inspired to help Tony Abbott, but ending up with Malcolm Turnbull. Disgusted, I exited a party to which I still have not returned, apparently like many others. With little differences between the major parties, the rise in independents is surely a direct response to the avarice, arrogance and ethical inferiority permeating the Nemesis era. What a shame that we live in a time when leaders are chosen by their opportunistic factions, rather than their wisdom, ideas, communication skills, good manners and life values. Sadly, politics is again proven to be the last refuge of craven rogues. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 25Feb2024
