Across hundreds of thousands of people and multiple federal electorates in Western Sydney, the scourge of familial and tribal bikie violence in the gangland drug wars remains a constant threat to bystanders everywhere. The death of young men in their drug distribution territorial disputes is absolutely obscene. I applaud imam Mohamed Hoblos for his bold outcry against such senseless bloodlust. (Grave fears, 19/5). With such a dangerous recent history, it surely confuses the average voter to note that this street warfare has not been addressed by a single candidate for federal office, except Steve Christou yesterday on the Today program. Only a cohesive policy using the lethal forces at all levels of government will tame these monsters at our doorsteps, even if most federal candidates are oblivious.
