Seemingly solar-powered, Energy Minister Chris Bowen might be up to his eyeballs believing all things emanating from the religion of climate change with its fanciful impact on a world widely agnostic on most other matters biblical. But has the minister now finally had his road-to-Damascus conversion ? (“Bowen’s “solar sharer offer” shocks energy providers”, “, DT, 5/11). The impact Australia could have by self-imposed economic restrictions to alter the Earth’s response to fluctuating carbon dioxide levels is nil. We have surely also failed to inspire the world to follow our foolish example. Economically punishing Aussies so that Bowen could strut on the world stage at climate conferences proselytising is surely an exercise in vanity immortalised. Realising obvious mistakes, Bowen is right to give every household three hours of free power each day, but he does need to tell the power providers. As they make record profits at our expense, the road to Damascus might be the only non-solar powered light on our collective horizon. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 6Nov2025
