As the battle against illegal drugs in the media continues, the contribution by courageous Sophie Horne cannot be underestimated (Fatal fear of cops, 26/11). Unlike MDMA, PMA does not cause amnesia. She was able to recount the details of near death in great detail. Her “friends” were high on MDMA, lacking insight into reality and absolutely useless in garnering medical assistance. Self-administering tablets if you suffer amnesia results in a massive risk of overdose. This battle will be won as young people hear Sophie’s story. Maybe the odd coroner is listening too.
