While the grass is always greener on the other side, one might wonder if that proved true on Tuesday as Malcolm Turnbull and Bob Carr caught up in Hyde Park. (Look who you run into at the park, 7/9). While our adversarial democratic political system strangles a public display of bonhomie while in office, in retirement even Whitlam and Fraser demonstrated some affection. Ideologically, Carr and Turnbull are a lot closer on the political scales, so cementing their friendship should have been a walk in the park. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta. 8Sep2022.
