Congratulations on your amazing “we told you so” editorial about the Australian Government wanting to spy on us. (“Great story. You read it here first”, ST, 23/2). Empowering the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) to do so must be resisted. Dutton’s earlier denial that this was planned highlights how offensive he knows it is to us and our freedoms. Governments argue with nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. But then they go to great lengths to punish those whistle-blowing their own secrets when there is a scandal worth exposing.
