Under the spotlight after making questionable calls on Covid management, Premier Dominic Perrottet has personally chosen Karen Webb as our police commissioner, passing by the preferred candidate of an expert committee. (Terminated – Senior cop told to go, 21/1). Although not knowing Michael Willing personally, I acclaim his excellent service as head of homicide and counter-terrorism in the NSW police force. His efforts have no doubt kept us safe and truly demonstrated the mission statement of his organisation. His removal is an unmitigated outrage. He should have been given an opportunity to demonstrate his loyalty to the new regime. A wise premier would immediately intervene in the name of justice and give a man with a great track record a fair go. Such an action might quell the anger in a few upcoming by elections.
