In wishing fellow letter writers, Telegraph staff and readers a Happy New Year, I’m appreciative of the kind acknowledgments of writer GPB (DT, 12/12) when he extolled the mission statement of all correspondents to this paper in bringing common sense and sound argument to public debate. I don’t doubt that being relevant, impactful and convincing requires sound evidence and an imaginative communication style. Having called for an end to antiSemitism in Australia and that we should commit to the Jewish people’s rights to live fearlessly, I was warmly reassured by the many letters since echoing that sentiment, and some excellent Editorials. The power of words and the clarion call to arms by letter writers is afforded to all when the cause is just and righteous. Our unity shall see our goals achieved sooner.
