Trump’s tariffs on Australian imports won’t last long. It will surely become apparent in the White House that peace in Ukraine will be a mighty prize for President Trump and Europe. What is also obvious is that President Putin will veto foreign troops from NATO countries as peacekeepers. He has argued against NATO expansion into Ukraine for his entire presidency. Suddenly, Australia has massive leverage in securing the peace by offering to participate as peacemakers in restoring order to a population with whom we have stood during their darkest hours, offering equipment, money and moral support. We should surely be demanding an immediate end to these meddlesome tariffs and a share of the potential mining boom.
