We might all have been occasionally reckless on social media, posting comments which seemed right at the time until a change in context sees our reputations crashing and causing unexpected public outrage (“Jewish anger over judge”, DT, 20/1). Philip Boulten posted some widely held opinions which were negative to the conduct of a foreign war. But after the Bondi attack, the pendulum has swung. During the war, many citizens of Israel were unhappy with the Netanyahu government. I’m uncertain why a senior council would need to have a social media account or feel the need to express for free his normally well priced opinions. The anonymous Jewish lawyer is correct to slam Michael Daley’s claim that not swearing Boulten into the role is not the same as proceeding to remove a sitting judge.
