While newly married couples might be so elated with the “chemicals of the madly-in-love” that they believe their bliss will last forever, I guess the throng of ISIS brides in a Syrian hellhole have very good reasons for now thinking otherwise (“Come clean on ISIS brides”, Editorial, 22/2). It is a mistake of the West to believe that they are responsible for the welfare of Islamic citizens seeking a better life when even their closest neighbours deny them charity. Whether forlorn brides in a Syrian desert or waves of healthy young men seeking a better life in the West, the immigration policy of western governments results in our own culture being disrupted, our quality of life impoverished and our hopes for future generations corroded. Importing migrants might satisfy the consciences of the Left after participating in wars in Afghanistan or Iraq, but anxiety by the mainstream population will see individuals like Pauline Hanson empowered. Excessive immigration must be immediately curtailed. It is odd that those remnants of Isis, harbouring a history of cutthroat barbarism against Christians in the Middle East are claiming victimhood after being righteously defeated by the forces of justice.
