Oh what a difference 24 hours make! (Iranian reign of terror lies in ruins, 2/3). As the first batch of Israeli jets initiated the attack on Iran at 5PM Saturday (Sydney time), it was made clear publicly by the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain that their air space was not to be infringed. This had been the status quo since last year during operation Rising Lion. Reacting by attacking every country in the Middle East except Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, Iran has now ensured full cooperation among its target nations, ironically perhaps giving the Abraham Accord a massive boost. Not only have allies opened their military airspace, they intend to actively engage in upcoming attacks. Having given Iran the opportunity since last June to make a deal, the call from Foreign Minister Penny Wong to cease all hostilities immediately and begin peaceful negotiations is surely a symptom of her complete self delusion rather being advice from a rational intelligent contributor who would recognise the urgent need for accountability in international affairs.
