Un-photoshopped Magda Szubanski hopefully celebrated her 60th birthday re-reading the rules of literary parody and how to stay funny. (Magda walks back tweet, 14/4). Only after poking fun at ourselves are we given license to humorously poke fun at the foibles of others. The “meme” defense was rubbish. Her fans were sympathetic to her own battles with weight, dress sense, relationships and people calling her “Magna”. Perhaps it’s time to share that charity. I’m uncertain how she might dress up to sign a condolence book under grim circumstances, but I would propose that her flamboyant backyard gardening gear depicted in the Daily Telegraph would not cut the mustard. Commentary: The Prime Minister’s wife was criticized for how she was dressed to sign a condolence book by Szabanski. Unfortunately, Magda was dressed up rather poorly the next day not looking the best as she went shopping.
