The engaging gaze of a youthful Oliver Johnson leaps off the pages of the Telegraph with all the hope, happiness and promise of youth. (Life’s unfair: Tears for tragic ski teen. 23/6). Every family has had such a child ; soulfully making each of us richer, purposeful and whole. In our evolving world of the safety-minded, risk is padded with mollycoddling rules, set to protect our every step. Ironically, we are sadly blinded to real-world dangers, which are surely magnified by the bravado and sense of invincibility of the young. Little doubt, all readers feel the pain of Oli’s family and friends. RIP to a champion. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta. 24June2022.
